Mixed, but cognizant
I have been told throughout the years that it is shameful that I do not speak Spanish. I laugh at how ignorant and absurd such a statement is. I also find it extremely detestable. I tell them I’m mixed, that their reasoning is facile and foolish. They ask why, how. I look at them trying desperately not kick their teeth in. I calmly say that it’s ridiculous that I should be forced to speak *any* language, that I’m also English, Irish, and Sioux. I continue to say that their logic is therefore profoundly absurd, atop being greatly ignorant because I, what, should also speak those? They look at me with disdain and walk away. I then laugh. I’m not saying not to become cultured, because that’s great to do so! I just find it to be such bullshit that it’s found to be “shameful.” How sanctimonious and arrogant can a person be?? Jesus. Anyway, thanks for listening to my rant. Haha.
